“Free energy and Alternative Energy discussion”

Tonight’s discussion should be very interesting to those who are interested in “Free Energy”.

After reading about a few preppers who have the answer to Free Energy and the scams they employed I felt it was time to expose some of their ideas. (hopefully to let folks become aware and not waste their money)

NOTE – All preppers are not scammers or attempting to take advantage of others.

I know quite a few folks that are preppers in their way, lots of hams have setup GO-BOXES to use as emergency communications, whether its a power system breakdown or to use in an area with no communications facilities.

I’m sure there are folks that have taken the step to be prepared in the event of a environmental event emergency or simply wants to function off the grid.

Who knows, with the uncertainty in the world, things can change at any moment that could put us back into a dark ages environment or without electric power…or fuel for our cars or machinery to process food...what about the power plants needed to charge all those new electric vehicles?

Alternative energy is a very hot topic now days.

We have examples of it all around us.

Solar panels…..solar thermal heat towers…wind chargers…..hydroelectric…..chemical type.

I have often wanted to pursue wind charging methods for mountain top service because of the available wind blowing both day and night.

But what would be a good choice in the type of wind charger equipment available?

Solar panels are certainly a champion in the alternative energy arena, panel wattages are getting bigger and prices are getting lower.

Apex Pk. where the H2 repeater is located is home to KB7HTA Tommy’s mesh equipment which is completely off the grid and has been operating reliably for quite some time now on solar panels and battery operation. His setup provides the needed energy to run the mesh radio equipment 24Hrs a day.

If you use You Tube any at all, I’m sure you have seen some of the titles for Free energy and how to power your house off of some pretty ingenious and far fetched ideas…to bad most of them don’t work, like the following.

#1 Using the motor out of a cordless drill

My grandson asked if we could build the above setup when he was 10 years old…..needless to say it didn’t work. My explanation to him was it must have batteries under the base, which I then had to do to show him.

#2 One of my favorites- The dirt battery

After all there is dirt everywhere…nope it didn’t work either.

Anyone remember in elementary science class doing the above with lemons…..that actually worked lighting a small light bulb for a few moments!

#3 self sustaining generator ( using the drill motor again)

This one is just wrong!

#4 Creating 220 vac ( this actually works…sort of)

The interesting thing about the above photo is they are using two 220vac three-phase motors. This is actually a way of generating 3-phase 220vac in a residential single phase 220vac environment, say for a piece of industrial equipment like a heavy duty commercial milling machine. (explain) this is not free electricity.

After reading the manual in a kit that a fellow sells online to preppers highlighting the TESLA INFINITY COIL, I was compelled to expose this guy’s scam, luckily my friend will get his money back (hopefully).

The surprising part was the amount of energy this fellow used to write this 66 page document, and how to build the non-iron core frame transformer that this device used to create its “magic”. His verbage was a real clue that there was something amiss with this kit.

This immediately took me back in time to my college days when I was going to school for a degree in Electronic Technology.

This was important to me at the time because I wanted to learn how circuits worked all the way down to the component level, in other words what a particular resister or transistor did in the circuit and why it was there…. I degress.

My point is, there is no substitute for good solid technical knowledge and proven science. There is never been any magic in this stuff, perhaps magical effects, but it has to be based on real science if you want it to work.

If you are a prepper, my hat is off to you, because it shows that you want to be self sufficient and survive in case the government as we know it starts to collapse and we find ourselves needing ways to live. Good luck to you.

How have you prepared for a system collapse?

Are you stockpiling supplies, what are they?

Are your communications needs prepared to operate on battery, solar, wind or maybe hand crank generator?

Any examples of the steps that you have made?

#5 Personal Hydroelectric charger

A word of advice, BEFORE you plan to spend any money on anyone else’s idea on how to make your own free electricity, check the technology out thoroughly, It could save you a major headache and a lot of money.

The Henderson Amateur Radio Club has so many engineers, technicians, DIY’ers and fabricators that there is a plethora of knowledge available that you can ask about a particular technology, better safe than sorry.

That old saying about no such thing as a free lunch, in electronics…believe it!
